The Zoetis Total Return (ZTR) index and Leachman $Profit Index simplify multiple trait selection to yield

greater returns. This is achieved by incorporating the full range of GEBVs and economic and

production assumptions into one easy-to-use number.

The Zoetis Cow|Calf (ZCC) index and Zoetis Growth|Carcass (ZGC) index further inform decisions for these

production segments. Dollar Ranch ($Ranch) and Dollar Profit ($Profit) Indexes, from our evaluation, we run with Leachman Cattle and allow for direct comparison with the bulls purchased from us.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HERDS USING INHERIT SELECT IN COMBINATION WITH THEIR BULL SELECTION?

Our Farmer Partners using this technology over time are generating herds that will objectively perform better than most stud (seedstock) herds. It makes sense with more genotyping and often artificial insemination (AI). These herds are now tending to select more replacements from their younger 2 and 3 year old heifers, which traditionally were discarded purely because they were a little lighter just because their mothers were younger. Building pedigrees, number of calves per sire and breed composition related to retained hybrid vigour are all aspects that enhance profitability and build value.
