Our Story

Early in 2005 Rissington Breedline travelled to the UK to investigate opportunities of setting up a 12 month lamb supply chain involving UK and NZ farmers, with the same terminal genetics.

It was immediately obvious, with reducing subsidies, high performing, but also high cost indoor sheep systems that there would be a place for our Highlander Maternal breed.  The farmers we wish to target are those wanting to grow their flock on a more sustainable nature with less labour and natural spring lambing on grass.

Rissington Breedline established operations in the UK with frozen embryo export and implantation of 6,000 embryos between 2005 and 2008.  Rissington now has 120 farmers using 700 rams, widely spread through the UK and Ireland.
