To truly realise the value of prime lamb production, Rissington Breedline extended its world class systems right through the supply chain to consistently deliver the consumer a quality eating experience by setting up its own Logistics & Marketing operation. However in June 2009 our Logistics & Marketing business was purchased by Silver Fern Farms (SFF) to avoid duplication with their operation. The day to day management of your lambs is now handled directly by SFF and the benefits and vision that we started in this program will be continued with SFF.
The SFF Logistics and marketing function:
- Markets all the progeny for contracted partners
- Facilitates flow of store stock between breeder and grower
- Coordinates the space and delivery of prime stock to the processor
- Distributes revenues to all parties
- Pays for stock that is processed direct from the breeder under standard terms & conditions
- Pools store stock with the average of the season being paid out
- Pays finishers a liveweight gain payment based on weight in and weight out
