Longevity of Stabilizer females proving to be outstanding for Hawke's Bay operation

Horizon Farming, a 90,000 stock unit operation in Hawke's Bay has been running Stabilizer cattle for a number of years and continue to be impressed by their performance in a range of conditions.

Managing Director Bill Ritchie says, "Commercially we operate Stabilizer® cattle and have found the mature weights and optimal performance robust at moderate mature weights, weaning weights are exceptional within a fair season. Conception rates are particularly pleasing over shortened matings and subsequent calf drops. The longevity of the females is proving to be outstanding and the animals ability to forage has also allowed the business to turn the pasture composition of some properties completely around whilst also retaining optimal output performance."

Horizon Farming is a breeding partner for Rissington Breedline Stabilizer® and Angus genetics. They also run the Primera® progeny test flock and Highlander® ewes.

"Beyond Reasonable Drought" field day, Wednesday, 14 May

A four-year soil conservation project culminates this coming Wednesday with a field day on Bonaveree Farm, Marlborough.
